Mantis and Moon Moving Pictures and Sound in Toledo OH, has announced their follow-up to their award-winning nature documentary "Thunder on the Farm", which has been playing on PBS Stations across the country since 2008.

"Thunder" has won several awards at the film festivals in which it was entered - It was an official Selection at the 2007 Ozark Foothills Film Festival; it won an Honorable Mention for use of Natural Sound, at the 2007 International Wildlife Film Festival; as well as an Honorable Mention at the 2007 Rural Route Film Festival.

"THE VIEW FROM THE MOUNTAIN"

Our new film is called "The View from the Mountain", and it was shot mostly in Costa Rica, but also Mexico, Colombia, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, Florida, and Jamaica. The main characters of the film, (punctuated by the diversity of the wildlife found there) are the original inhabitants of this (150) mile strip of land. This of coarse are the Howler Monkeys which make their homes in the cloud forests, high atop the mountains of Costa Rica.

Hundreds of years ago they watched as heavy wooden ships came, up and over the horizon, and somehow knew that they represented change, and that their way of life would never be the same again. Today, the ships are much lighter, made of aluminum, and fiberglass, they come from all over the world, but the changes that they bring continue.

Through eyes that remain fixed on man and his machinery, they have learned to thrive despite man's intrusion into their world, and they let it be known by their howls, every sunrise, and sunset, that they were there, long before man arrived, and plan to be there long after he's gone.

This film, once completed, will also be shown on Public Television, and possibly another candidate for NETA (National Educational Telecommunications Association) for distribution through it's Member Stations.

With a "View from the Mountain" in it's final stages of completion, Mantis and Moon is head-long into Pre-production for it's third nature documentary "Thunder on the Lake", which was shot in Canada and Michigan's Upper Peninsula, in the summer of 2009. It will be our first film shot entirely in Pro High definition, and it will include the animals found on and near lakes in the secluded Northern woods of North America, both large and small, as well as underwater shots of the many species of fish, and water fowl, found there.
